Chinese modern national vocality is the product of composers’ insistence of traditional music culture and inherits essence of traditional folk music(Chinese opera, Chinese folk art forms, talking and singing etc.), including rich contents and abundant themes. Composers penetrate into the fields and seek the quintessence of traditional musical culture. Chinese modern national vocality develops from advanced Western composing technique and artistic techniques. Research objects of this thesis is modern national vocal music works which depict the history and myth. On the basis the traditional Chinese music, these works take root in the profound Chinese historical culture, combining abundant cultural connotation with modern aesthetic, accentuating charm of national style and features of the times.This thesis will trace the origin and development of national vocal music works which depict the history and myth, and make a Comprehensive Analysis of achievements of them. The thesis explores creating characteristics and Singing techniques of national vocal music, excavating and concluding these works Combining with my own concert experience. Mainly introduce the origin and development of national vocal music works which depict the history and myth, sorting out their developing venation, illustrating the importance of this type of works. Make simple introduction of archetypal stories which this thesis is going to analyze.Chapter three:Analyze creating characteristics of modern national vocal music works which depict the history and myth. In this chapter, the thesis will analyze the creation of this type of work in the aspect of inheritance and innovation. In the aspect of inheritance, references of Chinese traditional music of this type of works can inherit and develop traditional music, and these works have excellent traditional music essence. In the aspect of innovation, composers use music creation technique which is a combination of Chinese and Western elements, keeping creating musical works with huge length and complex musical structure.Chapter four: With strong theatricality, singing skills of national vocal music works which depict the history and myth has higher requirements in breath, expressive force and pronunciation.
