Foreign Studies have shown that there is a big difference between the individual with belief in good luck and the individual with belief in bad luck. The individual with belief in good luck is more optimistic and more healthy in mental.However, the individual with belief in bad luck is more pessimistic and easily to be psychological sub-health. In addition, one domestic study found that, the openness of personality have a positive predictive role for belief in bad luck, while nervousness have positive effect for belief in bad luck and reverse predict belief in good luck. The latest study found that the belief in good luck with a stronger sense of control and self-efficacy; but belief in bad luck were significantly related to the multiple levels of deficits in executive functioning. Therefore, luck belief is a stable personality with significant individual differences, and belief in good luck is a more positive, belief in bad luck is more passive. At present, there is few research about belief in luck in the domestic. Therefore, the questionnaire method and experimental method are used in conjunction. The purpose of this study is to test and verify whether belief in luck is a stable personality with significant individual differences, and to found out the essential reason for the difference, and to explore the attentional bias ingredients. This study can enrich the field of research on personality psychology, and guard mental health of individual.Five scales are used in study 1.They are MMCS,PANAS,GPS,Social Behavior Rating Scale and the revised study on luck belief scale. The purpose of this study is to found out the overall situation of belief in luck in the domestic, and the difference in the demographic variables.Based on the results of a study 1,the purpose of the study 2 was to investigate the real reason for individual differences between different luck belief. Study 2 using 3×3 mixed design of two factors and emotional Stroop paradigm, Stimulus materials are different emotional vocabulary, a total of 60 participants take part in the experimental to explore the real differennce between different luck belief.Based on the results of the study 2, the purpose of the study 3 is to investigate the cause of the differences found in study 2. Study 3 using 3×3×3 three-factor mixed design and a more complex and modified dot probe task.64 participants from different luck belief group took part in the experiment to explore the attentional bias ingredients.Study 2 and study 3 programs were written by software E-Prime2.0.All of the three studies using SPSS 16.0 software for statistical analysis. The conclusion are as follows:l.Luck is a stable individual personality, with individual differences. Furmore, belief in good luck is a more positive while belief in bad luck is more negative.2. Beliefs in luck of chinese people are uncertainty.3.Chinese people tend to have beliefs in good luck. There are significant differences for belief in bad luck on gender,degree,age and occupation. Additionally,there are significant difference for belief in deny on regiona.4.The findings suggest that participates with belief in good luck may have attentional bias to the positive and negative emotional vocabulary,while participates with belief in bad luck may have attentional bias to the positive and negative emotional vocabulary.5.The findings suggest that participates with belief in bad luck may have difficulty in disengaging attention from negative emotional vocabulary.
