A Study On The Pragmatic Strategies Of Host Wang Han 's

The style and language of TV presenters is unique. Wang Han who is a representative of TV presenters in Chinese talk show is good at building humorous language but does not leave any marks in his humor. His language is typical-sometimes humorous and sometimes straightforward. His style and skills of hosting and the master of pragmatic strategies is a good example for us to deeply understand and to study pragmatic strategy. In this paper, we use the condition of pragmatic strategy as a starting point, and use "Day Day up" and "More talk, More Happiness" which host by Wang Han as language materials. We analyze the style and skills of Wang Han’s language which based on the theories of pragmatics, and try to reveal the generation mechanism, psychological mechanism and aesthetic mechanism of pragmatic strategy. Through further analysis, we try to dig more factors which affect the selection of pragmatic strategy.The full text is divided into four parts. The first chapter is the introduction part which introduces the object, purpose and the present situation of studying as well as the significance of studying. The second chapter introduces the pragmatic features of Wang Han which are summarized as follows:novel creativity, straightforward humor, popular and humorous dialects slang. The third chapter, in order to get a accurate studying result, the author firstly give a limitative definition of pragmatic strategy in talk show to define the scope of the pragmatic strategies and then we explore the strategy of Wang Han from the cooperative principle, the politeness principle, the relevance principle, speech act principle and language code-switching principle. After investigation, the pragmatic strategies of Wang Han are summarized as follows: the strategy of logical misleading, the strategy of giving an irrelevant answer, the strategy of irony, the strategy of euphemism, the strategy of praise and dispraise, the strategy of indirect speech, the strategy of language code-switching, the strategy of giving a new meaning, the strategy implied turning in utterance and the change of pronunciation, characters, grammar. Above all, the strategy implied turning in utterance and the strategy of language code-switching are two characteristic pragmatic strategies of Wang Han. Finally, through an example, we show the realization mechanism of pragmatic strategies, we believe that the realization of pragmatic strategies needs the mutual cooperation between subject and object, which is an opposite process. This process include the (subject) stimulation of context, the potential information understanding, the switching of meaning form and the output of pragmatic strategies; (object) the input of pragmatic strategies, the activation of owned information, the stimulation and inference of potential information. The fourth chapter, the author compare the two talk show presided by Wang Han. By comparing the two programs, we can analysis of the influencing factors of pragmatic strategies. In this part, the author mainly uses the method of comparative study. We based on previous studies and find that the TV program target, the rate of audiences, the individual condition and the pragmatic environment have an impact on the use of pragmatic strategies in the host. The third chapter and the fourth chapter are the main parts of the article.
