The thesis eyes on the literature theory and analyzes the stylistic features of poem to find the essential relationship between Tarkovsky’s film works and poems. This will be the focus of the thesis, which has been rarely mentioned in previous researches on the Tarkovsky’s film works.It can be easily noticed in the previous literatures of Tarkovsky’s film works that the emphasis is put on the interpretation of Russian traditions in the film and the cultural explanation and analysis, as well as the philosophic analysis of explaining "humanism". There are also analysis of film language and theme with theories and the aesthetic exploration of the film. Among all these researches, some put forward theoretical critics on Tarkovsky’s works while some focus on the cultural explanation. The critics are diversified but most of them are limited to the analysis or explanation of single work of Tarkovsky. There are few researches looking into the complete works and analyzing them on the basis of stylistic features of poems. It has been rarely seen to interpret the text in the films and compare the literature theories with film theories.I’d like to take an effort to explain from the perspective of poem theories that Tarkovsky’s film works possess the stylistic features of poem to a large extent. On one hand, his film works are fundamentally the video art within the range of film theories; on the other hand, the works presents the stylistic features of poem, which can be explained by the literature theories. So we should analyze it as a whole instead of isolating each part. It is a grounded truth that Tarkovsky’s film works have unified the literature art and video art instead of superficially combining them. Such a natural unification brings his film works great experimental success.Poem film is originated from the understanding of the lyric feature of films. The basic presentation of this feature in the film is:creating a sense of temple and an artistic atmosphere like poems in the film by weakening the plot and applying the symbolism and metaphor of poems. Modern poem film has broken away from the traditional mode of exploring the poetic language in the earlier film art. It has been realized that except the language, the film itself should be presented by combing the metaphor of poems with the emotional narration, which was always a direction in which Tarkovsky was exploring in the film creation.The film creation of Tarkovsky connects the stylistic features of poems instead poem itself. So we can notice that the logic of connection between images, scenes and frames in his works are the same as the poem. There seems no connection in a narrative logic. In fact, the logic is emotional, which has fully presented the poetic features in his movies. A poem is composed of several images and the piling of images seems irrelevant internally. However, these so-called "irrelevant" images possess an internal logic. The existence of such logic has enriched the poem and provoked an infinite extension.
