The Blending Of Confucianism And Western Learning: An Interpretation Of Yan Fu 's Core Concept

Yan Fu is a great initiation thinker in modern times, which has irreplaceable influence of China’s culture. He studied aboard in England at once, and repatriated China to introduce western culture. He had translated lots of famous books,eg:Theory of Natural Selection, Ethics and the theory of evolution, Logic and so on. 8 of them are good for culture. After the Jia Wu war, China was defeated,economic was strongly breaked.Yan Fu saw that western organization and theory could promote the development of China,so he adapt some measures for China.So far,researching of Yan Fu had continued long times. And this paper mostly study some core concept of Yan Fu’s books,to proving his ideology’s continued and consistency. And will divided into 3chapters to discuss, the first chapter discuss Yan Fu’s main concept and his books,the second chapter discuss the reasons of Yan Fu’s theories, the last chapter discus the practical significance of them.I think,the theories of Yan Fu is not contradiction, he just especially cared for Chinese traditional culture. And studying for it can brought benefits to China and western countries.
