This essay starts with the comparison among Guo Garden of Hangzhou and other typical ancient gardens in the south of the Yangtze River. Those landscape gardens share the outstanding characteristic of "live". They are constructed not only to be stationary scene, but the pursuit of immortal spiritual artwork."Live" is the theme of the discussion of landscape art this essay. First, the environmental cycle in gardens depends on the circulation of water, so Guo Garden benefits from the West Lake for the vital fundamentals. People can feel "live" and sense of infinite space from waterscape. Second, the essay analyzes pavilions in Guo Garden to witness some features such as "the interrelations between emptiness and substantiality", "the adaptability between motion and stillness" and "the overlap between the inside and the outside of vulgar world". People feel "concord" from the combinations above which demonstrate the concordant rhythm of life movement. Last, "live" also comes from the association of " Sujing Loft". Travelers find the freedom deep in their heart with the attitude and the inspiration to life by sympathetic responses to sight-seeing. Chuang Tzu defined this freedom as "travel" to express the unrestricted substance, space and life coming from the imagination.The essay makes an effort to interpret landscape art as well as art creation. Because most artificial work is inspired by nature, it is essential to follow the path of nature and pulse of life. As a result, people are able to refine their souls approaching "the ultimate void and adhering the calmness of mind" said Lao Tzu. In conclusion, this article is a voyage into the world of art on realistic level.
