As a foundamental module of music study, the pedagogy of solfeggio and aural training is to be altered in order to enhance students’ perception of contemporary music and to improve strategies for mastering techniques of solfeggio due to the innovation of contemporary music concepts, techniques, and genres in this era. As a dominant element, intonation training can deliver the features of contemporary music effectively, and pass the artistry directly for music appreciation and analysis purpose.This paper primarily discusses the importance and pedagogy of intonation in a contemporary music context. The hypothesis of this research is: solfeggio and aural training are neither an individual object nor can be separated from music. It should be base on the elements of music per se, as well as engage with the music characteristics in respect of directing music production and performance. Through practicing with various intervals and chords in sample works of contemporary music, this research integrates theory discourse with musical work analysis in order to develop a reformative approach for contemporary music comprehending and appreciation.
