The Sino-british Music Grading Solfeggio Comparative Study

Ear training and sight singing is the foundation of the study of the music. Aural test in the ABRSM graded music exam is not only a compulsory course and exam but also pays more attention to"art"than"technique". Ear training and sight singing in the graded music exam in China is an optional course and test and takes"technique"training into account. This article makes a comparison concerning the teaching materials of the graded music exam in ABRSM and China, so three thoughts arise from it. First, the teaching concept should be changed to the"technique and art on balance". Second, it should be an integrated view concerning the basic knowledge, technique and culture for writing textbooks. Last, various types of teaching methods should be applied. So it would promote the graded music exam and teaching activities in the field of ear training and sight singing in China.
