Avoidance phenomenon in inter-language is common, and also very important. Different linguistic theories have carried on analysis and research on voice avoidance, vocabulary avoidance, syntax avoidance and topic avoidance in different intermediary languages, such as writing, translation and oral expression. Among these theories, acquisition theory, error analysis theory and contractive analysis theory are more outstanding. But there is little research on avoidance phenomenon using strong memes and taking Chinglish as the carrier of inter-language, especially research on avoidance phenomenon of Chinese English and Chinese Russian. Therefore, on the basis of the predecessors’ research of avoidance phenomenon, with strong memes theory, the thesis studies avoidance phenomenon in inter-language of foreign language learners having English or Russian language as the second language, by means of qualitative research and exemplification. Based on the theoretical research abroad and at home, this thesis has deepened the definition and causes of avoidance phenomenon in inter-language. In this thesis, avoidance phenomenon is deeply analyzed through strong memes from two aspects: Chinese English and Chinese Russian. Through analysis and summary of examples, the author finds that the main cause of avoidance phenomenon in inter-language is that foreign language learners want to fulfill the maximization of their expression interests or their ultimate goals in the process of inter-language production, so the learners, when expressing inter-language, take language strong memes which are simplest, easiest and most definite to avoid the difficult and complicated elements.In addition, through the research on avoidance phenomenon in inter-language and based on the strong meme theory, my thesis proposes that, in the foreign language learning, foreign language learners should pay attention to the use of entertaining and innovative strategies to promote the replication and transmission of strong meme in foreign language, so that foreign language learners can be affected by language strong meme in inter-language representation, and speak the inter-language that is close to the target language.
