This article stems from my understanding on the contemporary fine brushwork figure painting, and it can also be seen as a summary of three-year professional learning and practice of painting. The main content in the article benefited there aspects: study on works of Yong-kai Hu, xiao-juan Ma, guo-liang Hou, my own favor and exploration of Chinese dress culture, and my practice of creative painting.Chapter one: the main content is about the current situation of development of contemporary fine brushwork figure paintings. Fine brushwork figure painting moved towards the revival again under active efforts of a group of modern and contemporary painters in the recent twenty years. Chapter two: the main content is about the embody of cheongsam in fine brushwork figure paintings. Cheongsam, which can manifest curvy figures of oriental woman, contains unique elements and various styles. Cheongsam is the symbol of Chinese women ’ traditional clothing. It was also improved constantly by the influence of western decorationism and the exchange and integration of painting ideas between China and western country. Chapter three: the main content is about establishment of painting subjects, choice of symbols, attempt of all sorts of small draft, use of pen and ink, adjustment of pictures, experience of painting, and difficulties I met during painting.
