Research On Symbolism And Metaphor In The Contemporary Fine Brushwork Figure Painting

Symbolism and metaphor are common emotional expression methods in traditional Chinese culture and art,and it has been accompanied by the development of Chinese painting.At present,facing the extremely complex and rapidly changing social environment and the high-speed running pace of life,there are complex,repressed,anxious and ineffable emotions in the depths of people’s heart.Contemporary fine brushwork figure painting reflects the current spirit of people and times.Contemporary fine brushwork figure painting can effectively express people’s indescribable and complex emotions by symbolism and metaphor.This paper chooses the symbolic and metaphorical characteristics of contemporary fine brushwork figure painting as the topic to study the performance characteristics of the contemporary fine brushwork figure painting,the painters’ creation concept,and the social and cultural thinking it brings us through the analysis of the symbolic and metaphorical reasons and presentation methods of contemporary fine brushwork figure painting.Academic researches on the expression method and means of contemporary fine brushwork figure painting is very extensive and active,but specific and deep discussion of its symbolic and metaphorical characteristics,painter’s reflection on contemporary real life and people’s mental state conveyed by this technique of expression,and the contemporaneity,inheritance,innovation and development of Chinese painting are rare.Using research methods such as literature research,work analysis and example analysis,and from the perspective of painting practitioners,this paper explores how fine brushwork figure painting which has various expression methods can better convey the painter’s painting concept,express the living experience and highlight the characteristics of the times through appropriate means of expression.It also guides the audience to deeply recognize the problems such as the connotation of the work that worth the creators to think about.These problems have enlightenment and benefit to the current fine brushwork creation,and they are also the key points of this paper.This paper mainly expounds the symbolism and metaphor from five aspects.Firstly,it explains the meaning and function of symbolism and metaphor.Secondly,this paper analyzes the symbolism and metaphor in western paintings through examples.Then,taking typical symbolic and metaphorical works in traditional fine brushwork figure painting as examples,this paper analyzes how the ancients used technique of expressions such as symbolism and metaphor.Next,this paper analyzes and demonstrates the symbolic and metaphorical characteristics of contemporary fine brushwork figure painting,as well as the creative idea and mental state of the painter from the reasons why the work is symbolic and metaphorical,and the symbolic and metaphorical presentation methods.Finally,it discusses the deep meaning of contemporary fine brushwork figure painting on the current social life and the development of Chinese painting through symbolism and metaphor.It can be concluded that contemporary fine brushwork figure painting can better reflect the current real life through symbolism and metaphor,especially can effectively convey the current complex and unspeakable emotions.Symbolism and metaphor are methods to realize contemporary transformation and innovative development of traditional Chinese fine brushwork figure painting.
