The Pinghu School is one of the main genres of the Pipa art in China. Since Li Fang-yuan, the fifth generation successor of Pinghu School, published The 13 Sets of the New Pipa Operns of Northern-Southern School in 1895, the Pinghu School has been formed and had a profound impacts on Chinese Pipa art. In 1958, Yang Shao-Yi, the disciple of Zhu Ying which is the master of Pinghu school in Pipa art, was employed at Xi’an Conservatory of Music. Since then, the Pipa art of the Pinghu school had taken the root in the Northwest China, and it made a meaningful contribution to the northward movement of the southern school of Pipa art. Yang Shao-Yi had laid the foundation of Pinghu school in Pipa art at the Northwest China, and had trained lots of inheritors for the Pinghu school. Later, Ren Hong-Xiang et al. made unremitting endeavor to make Xi’an Conservatory of Music to be the base of north China, especially in Shaanxi. As a new generation learner in Pinghu school, the author attempts to explore the experience, promotion and innovation in art within three great inheritors of Xi’an Conservatory of Music in different ages. In the same time, the author tries to shape the developing ideas for Pinghu school in Shaanxi, finds the current situation and insufficient of Pinghu school on the new age. Finally, this thesis also push the traditional national cultures forward.
