The art of pipa (Chinese lute) performance is profound and has beenpassed down from generation to generation for thousand years. Amongnumerous schools of pipa, Pinghu School has gradually gained significantimportance and shown its unique charm and characteristics. Two pieces ofpipa music, Qinglian Yue Fu and Huaiyin Ping Chu from book Thirteen Piecesof Pinghu School Pipa Works*are analyzed in this paper. Through thosetwo examples, artistic charm and style pursued by Pinghu School Pipa getrevealed. The purpose of this study is to gain more attention of PinghuSchool Pipa performance technique and special characteristics.This paper will discuss on the following topics:Introduction of Pinghu School formation and development. Clarifythe developing path of Pinghu School.Taking two pieces of pipa music as examples for study to sum upPinghu School art style and its charm.Analyzing of Pinghu School current situation from perspectives ofinfluence, status, current being and inheritance.
