The use of the color Gray is always the major feature of Anselm Kiefer’s various artworks. This particular color has a strong significance, it made his works have a unique artistic look, then break the established rules of art and let art being spirituality again, which has a unique artistic value and historical significance of the history of art in the late 20th century.Kiefer’s artworks are full of complex symbols and challenges to established perceptions, exploring how to liberate art from pre-ordinated conventions and expressing artistic value in the form of emotional manifestation where form is the language of art.In this paper I will use Kiefer’s gray as a starting point, to enquire the unique spiritual significance of Kiefer’s artworks.Chapter One, Kiefer’s Gray:presents a number of commentators’s comments about Kiefer’s artworks to analyze the gray in Kiefer’artworks;Chapter two, gray tone throughout:analyzes the changes in the use of gray through the different stages of Kiefer’s career;Chapter three, gray in different themes:analyzes the different meanings of gray in different themes;Chapter four, lead and concrete:studies the use and significance of the materials used by Kiefer;Chapter five, the spiritual significance of gray:researches the spiritual dimension of Kiefer’s Gray;Conclusion:summarizes the spiritual significance of the evolution in Kiefer’s artworks and and different use of gray tones.
