| According to recordings on settlements in Qingpu Diming Zhi, the article constructs a database by the data processing of the fishing settlements in Qingpu area.With the reference to the existing maps and site visiting, the article relocates the settlements by using GIS in order to explore the evolving mechanism of fishing settlements names in Qingpu District since Ming and Qing dynasties. On this basis,the article studies the interpersonal relationship which is embodied in evolution process from the perspective of historical geography to provide references for protection, exploitation and utilization of rural settlements resources.From spatial-temporal distribution, fishing settlements of Qingpu District were mainly distributed along rivers and concentrated in small ones during Ming and Qing dynasties. However, after the founding of PRC, fishing communities had shifted to continuous shallow lakes and deep Dingshan Lake. From perspective of attribute,fishing settlements were often named by fishermen during Ming and Qing Dynasties which tend to be named in accordance with river, surname, orientation and so on.After the establishment of PRC, with acceleration of urbanization and mechanization of fishing tools, fishing settlements names began to be concentrated in reed marshes in Western Qingpu. The evolution of place names shows that the fishing settlements are becoming more systematic, scientific, large-scale.The the evolution of fishing settlements names in Qingpu area is the result of interaction between natural and humane factors. From the natural perspective, the distribution of water resources, terrain, and so on can affect distribution and naming of fishing settlements names. From the humane perspective, cename management,government policies, water conservancy, fishing tools, technological development and so on provide the impetus for fisherman’s settlement in land and comprehensive fishery development, which reflects the man-land relationship in the course of transforming nature and adapting to nature. |
