In the practice of teaching Chinese as a second language,adverbs teaching has always been the important and difficult one. The modal adverb as a small class of adverbs, indicates modal and the way of action, and often indicates the speaker’s subjective attitude and ideas. The initial investigations revealed that the longer the time to learn Chinese, the more difficult to grasp modal adverbs. In the process of teaching second language, teaching material is the most important tool and basis for the teachers and learners. Chinese language points in the teaching materials and has a pivotal role on teaching. One of the important factor that affects the teaching effect of modal adverbs is the selection and arrangement of modal adverb in the existing textbooks. The Investigation and analysis of the teaching material can discover and solve the problems and provide effective reference for teaching modal adverbs.In this paper, we used the full set of Chinese textbooks “Boya Chinese” as the research object, based on the tracing adverb classification in Zhang Yi Sheng’s “Modern Chinese Adverbs”, integrated the modal adverbs in “Chinese Proficiency Vocabulary and Grade Outline of Chinese character” and “Chinese International Education with- syllable words and characters grading” And compared with modal adverbs in “Boya Chinese”, quantitative evaluated the writing of modal adverbs in “Boya Chinese” On the basis of investigation and analysis, we are striving to provide relevant advice on producing new words selection, layout, and design for reprint material.
