Mothers’ reactions to children’s negative emotions as a kind of parenting style play an important role on children’s social interaction, especially closely related to the development of children’s emotion ability and social behavior. At present, foreign researchers has studied mothers’ reactions to children’s negative emotions, and its influence on children’s social interaction. But the relevant empirical research on mothers reactions to children’s negative emotions is less in the domestic.We design three researches, 125 children and their mothers and teachers are surveyed. In the research, we try to examine the mothers’ reactions to children’s negative emotions, children’s theory of mind, children’s emotion understanding ability, children’s emotion regulation by using the method of questionnaire and behavior observation. The purpose of the present study was: to investigate mothers’ reactions to children’s negative emotions, and its relationships with children’s emotion ability; to explore the relationship of mothers’ reactions to children’s negative emotions, children’s theory of mind, children’s emotion ability; to analysis the relationship of mothers’ reactions to children’s negative emotions with the children’s problem behaviors. The results showed that:1.Mothers use supportive reactions(15.37±1.98) more than nonsupportive reactions(9.23±2.31) to children’s negative emotions, the emotion-focused reactions get highest score.2.Children’s theory of mind had partial mediation effect between mothers’ supportive reactions to children’s negative emotions and children’s emotion understanding.3.Mothers’ supportive reactions affect children’s self-regulation through two paths:(1) mothers’ supportive reactions affect children’s self-regulation through mediating effect of children’s emotion understanding;(2) mothers’ supportive reactions affect children’s selfregulation through mediating effect from children’s theory of mind to children’s emotion understanding.4.Mothers’ supportive reactions affect children’s negative emotion regulation to others through two paths:(1) mothers’ supportive reactions affect children’s negative emotion regulation to others through mediating effect of children’s emotion understanding;(2) mothers’ supportive reactions affect children’s negative emotion regulation to others through mediating effect from children’s theory of mind to children’s emotion understanding.5.Mothers’ supportive reactions is related to child problem behaviors, and it have significant effects on two kinds of children’s problem behaviors.According to the results of this study, we put forward the education suggests for parents especially for mother. In order to let the parents to realize the important role of reasonable response to children’s negative emotions, so as to optimize the family education idea, promoting the healthy development of children’s body and mind.
