A Study On The Relationship Between Rousseau And Marx 's Thought

Academic community was constrained Marx’s thought by three sources of theory--English classical political economy, German Classical Philosophy and French Utopian socialism,while ignoring the Rousseau significant influence to the development of Marx’s historical materialism thought for a long time. Marx has excerpted amount of countries history and political works in Kreuznach’s Notebooks which occupy the central position is Rousseau’s Social Contract Theory, we can find that Marx is influenced by the text and then fully recognize the source of Marxist Thought. AL of these have reinforce our understanding of Marxist philosophy and orientation, enrich resources of Marxist Thought so as to better guide the socialist modernization construction of our country.The thesis is divided into three chapters.Firstly,the central position of Rousseau’s Notes has been established in Kreuznach Notebooks through study the philology of Kreuznach Notebooks and the main contents of Rousseau’s Notes. Centering on Rousseau’s Notes,demonstrates enlightenment function of the Rousseau’s alienation and philosophy thought to Marx as well as the influence of concept of people’s sovereignty,freedom and equality to Marx’s political thought, and lead the Marx’s economics through the analysis of the origins of private ownership and the civil society. At last, the writer talking about the influence of Rousseau had urged Marx transformed from philosophy to political economics, from revolutionary democracy to communism and from idealism to materialism. All of these transformations have deeply rooted in the theories of historical law of development of Marx’s historical materialism, people’s ideas and social form. Due to the limitation of historical era, Rousseau did not reach the height of historical materialism, but lit up the Marx roads leading to the historical materialism!Rousseau’s influence on Marx, the necessary condition to the formation of Marx’shistorical materialism, derived from Rousseau’s notes, embodied in the two articles of German and French Yearbook, deepen into certain thoughts of the historical materialism.
