With the development of our nation’s economy, China’s international status in the economy and politics are improving gradually. Many overseas-funded enterprises are going into Chinese market. Therefore, there are more and more mutual collaboration between China and other countries. And English is becoming more important in the international communication.The cultivating of translation competence is always been an important topic of translation education since the early 1970 s. Therefore, a method which is based on the theory of constructivism is effective for improving such a translation competence which benefits the students. Under the guidance of constructivism, the paper is divided into five parts. The first part is introduction, which mainly introduces the research background, purpose and significance of the topic basis. The second part is the literature review, which summarize the review of translation ability in domestic and foreign. The third part is the theoretical basis. It describes the basic connotation of social constructivism, schools and common social constructivism mode. The fourth part is the manifestation of cultivating translation ability under social constructivism. It introduces the subjectivity of the translator and analyzes the position of the translator under the traditional translation theory and the identity under the perspective of social constructivism. It combines constructivism with teaching as well. The fifth part is characters and strategies of translators under the social constructivism theory.
