With the children’s English learning widely spreading in China, people show a variety of concerns on children’s language code-switching phenomena.Code-switching refers to a person making frequent conversions in two or more languages, between two or more dialects, between different styles or between languages and dialects while in the speech act. The study of code-switching started relatively late in China, and mainly intended for adults rather than in children’s language. In this paper, a collection of code-switching data of the children who are native Chinese and study English as a second language are explained and analyzed by Linguistic Adaptation Theory and Linguistic Adaptation Model. It is of great significance to study children’s code-switching phenomena for understanding the process of language development, so as to better understand the law of child language acquisition. As the results show, children’s code-switching is in line with Linguistic Adaptation Theory and is the embodiment of Linguistic Adaptation Model. From the application point of view of code-switching, code-switching is an unavoidable phenomenon in language learning and it has great effect on children’s language acquisition. Code-switching should be allowed and accepted in the process of children’s English learning. What’s more, it can be regarded as a powerful aid in language acquisition process. Meanwhile, due to the limited range of observation and inevitable individual differences, more study is still needed on the use of code-switching of kids studying English as a second language. And further study from other experts and scholars on this subject is expected in order to get a more objective conclusion.
