Annual Report "China Internet Development Report 2014" (Chapter 22) Chinese-English Translation Practice Report

Internet has constantly changed people’s work and lifestyle in recent years. As an extension of the Internet, the Internet of Things(IOT) becomes an important part of the new generation of information technology. This report translates and examines Chapter 22 of China Internet Development Report 2014 which is jointly written by Internet Society of China and China Internet Network Information Center. After the process of translating and summarizing, the author found the following text characteristics: large amount of Chinese specific terms, several parallel structures, no exaggeration and metaphor and so on. Therefore, the key aspect of this report is how to realize accurate translation from Chinese to English by applying specific translation strategies and methods. So the author summarized the above characteristics and the correspondent translation skills and methods for annual report with specific case analysis, hoping to provide reference for the translation of this kind of text.
