Bach is the soul character in music history. He inherits and carries forward the traditional polyphony, and actively promotes the development of music melody and harmony function. He is the user and prompter of the twelve-tone equal temperament, and worthy of the title "Father of Music". Vivaldi is currently known as the only one who created concerto best in the Baroque era, leaving more than 200 concertos which have a far-reaching impact on future generations. What is more worthy of our attention is that the rediscovery of Vivaldi is the outcome of the research on Bach around 1850. At that time, people realized that although these two contemporary masters had never met before, but they had communicated spiritually for a long time. We discovered that a lot of Bach’s works are adapted from Vivaldi’s works.This essay studies Bach’s piano Concertos BWV975 and BWV978 which are adapted from Vivaldi’s works to understand the structural characteristics of his keyboard music, explore the backgrounds and methods of Bach’s adaptation of Vivaldi’s works, know Vivaldi from Bach’s works, deepen the understanding of Bach piano works from his deepening of Vivaldi’s works, and finally enrich the research in this field.The two piano works BWV975 and BWV978 are the research object in this essay. Through the biographies of Bach and Vivaldi and the analysis of the structure, musical form, harmony, sound and timbre of their works, the intent of this essay is to provide some tips and experiences the players can use for reference.
