The object of this thesis is clavier arrangements of Johann Sebastian Bach, mainly aiming at three pieces for harpsichord concerto arrangements:D major concerto for harpsichord (BWV972), C major concerto for harpsichord (BWV976) and F major concerto for harpsichord (BWV978). The original works corresponding to these three arrangements, namely D major concerto for violin (op.3No.9RV230), E major concerto for violin (op.3No.12RV265) and G major concerto for violin (op.3No.3RV310) which are from Antonio Vivaldi’s concerto for violin,<op.3L’Estro Armonico>, are necessary references. This thesis sorted historical factors related to Bach’s arrangements, and discussed the arranging techniques and personal style of Bach based on the analysis of these arrangements, also revealed the motivation of Bach to arrange these concertos from Vivaldi. Based on systematically arranging of references and in depth study of these works, the author try to give a full demonstration of these three arrangements to offer more necessary information for further study on Bach’s arrangements.
