A Study Of Cultural Identity In Korean Narrative Novels

Korean-Chinese is the ethnic minorities in China who moved into China from the Korean peninsula and settled down in China. It has been more than 150 years since they moved into China. In these years, Korean-Chinese literature which based on the Korean peninsula’s traditional literature and developed in the China’s political, economic and cultural life, formed its own unique literature gradually. Korean-Chinese literature is different from Korean peninsula literature and main stream of the entire Chinese literature, and has made great progress and brilliant achievenments.With the development of the globalization, as traditional customer become increasingly popular, the cultural identity is becoming a hit. Longing for loved ones, in order to make more money, more and more Korean-Chinese decided to go to Korea.Since the 1990s, Korean-Chinese literary world created lots of works whose theme is Korean-Chinese life in Korea, they describe Korea and Korean, who search for cultural identity. Xu Lianshun is one of the representative writers.Xu Lianshun concerns about Korean-Chinese life, and she frequently mentions the issue of cultural identity in the text. She shows readers the realistic problem faced by Korean-Chinese, and the distress this problem has evoked. Xu Lianshun’s narratives started to become famous in Korean literature with its novel and unique novel space, unique style and profound theme.This research is mainly on the cultural identity consciousness of Xu Lianshun’s Korean narrative novel through the method of literature analysis and social & historic criticism. The social and historic criticism chims the relationship with literary works and the social & historic criticism, attaches great importance to the writer’s thought tendency and the social function of works. This article analyzes the Xu Lianshun’s works in the social and historical environment, and researches the cultural identity by the relationship with the social history.This paper is divided into 3 parts.First, the Korea image and the evolution in the novel.This paper analyses the image of Korea in Xu Lianshun’s Korean narrative novel into "forefather’s country-root-seeking consciousness and nostalgia consciousness", "wealthy exists with money talks-desire and despair". In Xu Lianshun’s narratives, the hero’s root searching awareness of "ancestors’ country", the yearning for the "wealthy countries", and the disappointment and despair of "money-talk countries", all suggesting the hero’s the consciousness change of cultural identity.Second, the Korean-Chinese image in Xu Lianshun’s Korean Narrative Novel.The most hosts in Xu Lianshun’s novel are living in the bottom of society, they choose to go to Korea for taking off a poverty, narrow down the weahth gap by going to Korea. Also Xu Lianshun shapes the pain which the hero get in the special age.In Xu Lianshun’s novel, the most hosts who live in Korea are crashers, foreigners, illegal alients. People thought they are poor, dirty, ignorant, taking color glasses to see Korean-Chinese, and ignored them. The author described the miserable life of Korean-Chinese in Korea, described the contradiction of Korean-Chinese and Korean, poured the discrimination and unequal treatment Korean-Chinese has faced in Korea.The third part mainly analyzes the Korean Narrative in Xu Lianshun’s cultural identity consciousness.She likened the character to ’Rootless Flowers’,’Butterfly’ and ’Chinese daughter-in-law’, showed protagonist’s confusing which is caused by cultural identity, continuously put forward "who am I?", "where should I go" and try to find the answer. She calls on Korean-Chinese who live in Korea to come back to China as soon as possible, and tells them their home is in China.The Korean appears in Xu Lianshun’s works are almost negative image, mainly tell the contradiction between Korean-Chinese and Korean, but the novels she creates in 21st, she resolve these conficts, revealing the future connection between Korean-Chinese and Korea.These novels are written in different periods, the author’s consciousness also has some changes, and she still insists on the creation of relevant writer works, so the South Korean Narrative in Xu Lianshun’s cultural identity has a great research space.
