The research value and significance of Mongol prose at the beginning of the New Period(1979-1985)lie in its being the foundation of Mongol prose’s further development in the New Period. From the perspective of theme and subject, Mongol prose at this period has also been characterized by the political, economic and social development of the given time.The theme and the subject of Mongol prose struggled but un-liberalized under the shackles of politics and society until the New Period. Superficial depiction of the social life, advocating the policy, glorifying the party, leaders, and exemplars were the main topics of Mongol prose at that time. After the New Period,creative works are emerged but also remain the old glorifying tune till mid 1980s. The end of Cultural Revolution and the downfall of "leftist Adventurist" allow the Mongol prose to enter a period of socialist realism, in which, Mongol prose tends to criticize the disastrous effects of Cultural Revolution, acknowledge one’s position, and expose the blemish of humanity. This is a reflection of progress in terms of theme and subject in Mongol prose’s history. The occasion for development and the urgent requirements of livelihood space enlighten Mongolians as to think of the future. Thence, historical and realistic feelings, especially the anxious for ethnic’s future is integrated into Mongol prose at this period, reflecting the advanced thoughts of this period.In summary, Mongol prose at the beginning of the New Period isn’t completely free itself from the political line at that time, however, it feature with social realism and national consciousness.
