Chinese phonology has close relationship with traditional Chinese opera as a bunch of terms involved Chinese phonology are borrowed from traditional Chinese Opera. More specifically, the author has figured out that we could find a new perspective reviewing some complicated phonological issues involved traditional Chines opera if we could combine both of them together.Because of these reasons mentioned above this thesis put emphasis on the dramatical group which called Wu Jiang, which attached great importance to the metrical and standard patterns and illustrate by clarifying Shen Chongsui’s views which recorded in his two books called “Xiansuo Bian’e” and “Duoqu Xuzhi”。This thesis is divided into four parts. Chapter one we outline the general information of the dramatical group of “Wu Jiang”,especially the evolution of the group and define the controversial members whether belong to this group or not; Chapter two we introduce some famous figures in Wu Jiang group and their propositions involved phonology. Chapter three is the key chapter of this thesis. We analysis the phonological ideas put forward in Shen Chongsui’s books and give our explanation of some phonological issues up in the air from a new perspective such us “Yinchuyangshou”, “Nanzun Hongwu Beixie Zhongyuan”, in this chapter we also interpret Shen’s flexible use of “Dengyuntu”.Chapter four we evaluate the contributions made by Wu Jiang Group both for linguistic research and for Chinese opera studies.
