Existential sentence is a special form of sentence that holds an important place in modern Chinese study. Modern Chinese existential sentences have typical features in the aspect of syntax, semantics and pragmatics. Since the 40s and 50s of 20th century, lots of linguistics ran various researches on sentential sentences from the point of syntax, semantics, pragmatics, cognitive linguistics, transformational-generative grammar, and comparative linguistics. Even though there is no equivalent sentence as existential sentence in Uyghur language, but there are certain sentence structures that have existential meaning. These sentences are similar in the aspect of syntax and semantics of some extant, it established a base for both existential sentences in Uyghur and Chinese.According to the theories of comparative linguistics and three flat surfaces, this paper runs a corresponding research on features of Chinese existential sentences. On these basics, paper focuses on characteristics of semantic cases and semantic aspects and the equivalent expressions of Chinese existential sentences in Uyghur language. The whole paper consists of five chapters:Chapter one:introductionChapter one introduces the study background and origin of studies on Chinese existential sentences, and also gives a brief introduction toChinese existential sentences. In this chapter, author summarizes the stationed sentence patterns of Chinese existential sentences in Uyghur language, describes the known research findings of equivalent expressions of Chinese existential sentences in Uyghur, and lays out the theoretical basis and study techniques.Chapter two:Chinese-Uyghur existential sentence overviewThis chapter mainly introduces the demarcation, classifications and expressive functions of Chinese existential sentence according to the research findings of Pan Wen’s "Multidimensional Study on Chinese Existential Sentences". According to the related Uyghur grammatical research findings, this chapter summarizes the fixed sentence patterns that give the existential meaning.Chapter three:the equivalent expressions of syntactic features of Chinese existential sentences in Uyghur languageFirstly, analyzes the A, B, C units and the following composition of existential sentences respectively, and find out the equivalent expression of them in Uyghur language.Chapter four:the equivalent expressions of semantic features of Chinese existential sentences in Uyghur languageThis chapter analyzes the semantic features of Chinese existential sentences from the point of semantic cases and grammatical meanings. Part one sums up five semantic patterns of existential sentences, and finds out the equivalent expressions of each in Uyghur language; part two analyzes the semantic aspect features of Chinese existential sentences, and their equivalent expressions in Uyghur.Chapter five:the equivalent expressions of pragmatic features of Chinese existential sentences in Uyghur languageThis chapter discusses the difference of focal points, composition deletion and implied phenomenon of Chinese existential sentences, and finds the equivalent expressions in Uyghur language respectively.Chapter six:conclusionThis chapter is the overall conclusion of the whole thesis, introduces the research significance and summarizes the innovations and shortcomings of the proposed paper. To sum up, this paper collected a great deal of materials and linguistic data both in Chinese and Uyghur to find out the equivalent and appropriate expressions of Chinese existential sentences in Uyghur. These findings were accomplished under the theory of comparative analysis and three flat surfaces from the point of syntax, semantics and pragmatics. Author hopes that this study could deepen the research of Chinese-Uyghur sentence patterns, and helps to increase the efficiency of second language teaching (especially the Chinese teaching to minority students), also strengthen the practical language applications such as language translation between Chinese-Uyghur.
