A Multi - Perspective Analysis Of Modal Particles "

This article takes the modal particle “Er Yi” as the research object. Through a large number of corpus investigation, using the three plane theory and the theory of lexicalization, it conducts a systematic analysis from the angle of synchronic and diachronic. On syntax, “Er Yi” is mainly at the end of small sentences and “Er Yi” is often found with scope adverbs, phases and overlapping verbs and so on. On the semantics, this paper mainly analyzes the semantic features of “Er Yi”, including natural semantic features and some pertained to it. It mainly analyzes the natural semantic characteristics of “Er Yi”, the restrict of “Er Yi” is mainly embodied in “number limit” and “quality limit”. On the pragmatics, this paper mainly analysis of “Er Yi” which mainly investigates the pragmatic functions and environment of the modal particle. It points out that “Er Yi” has signaling and textural function, and it can be applied to other classes and different style. On the last, this chapter mainly analyzes the lexicalization process of “Er Yi” and probes its lexicalization of motivation and mechanism. Through the analysis in this angle, we can understand the deep cause of the change and the development of “Er Yi”.
