The concept of the party politics is that people organize and participate in the political activities through election or other ways, make the decision based on the benefit of a certain class, stratum and social group, finally carry it out at home and abroad. The Weimar Republic was the first democratic and republic country in Germany history. In late nineteenth Century, with the development of capitalist economy and the establishment of the German Empire, the party politics emerged. When the Republic was set up in 1919, most of the political parties that dated from the Empire were the main participants in the political activities of the Republic. Each party represented different various groups and had different political orientation, so contradiction and struggle existed ordinarily in and out of the government.In 1925, the whole process of the Locarno Pact, fully demonstrated the conflict among these parties basing on each position, especially the contradiction between the German National People’s Party and Stresemann, who was the leader of the German People’s Party as well as the Foreign Minister of the Republic. According to the response of these parties on the process of the Pact signing, we can see the fragmentation, the trend of being right and the vulnerability of the party politics. Essentially, it was on account of the division of the society and politics, the defects of the proportional representation as well as the binary system in the government.Although the Weimar Republic only existed for 14 years and was replaced by the Nazi government, it inherited the Empire and conducted comprehensive practice of the party politics, which provided beneficial reference for the establishment and development of the democratic republicanism in Germany after World War Ⅱ.This paper mainly forces on the conflict, impact of the main political parties activities during the signing process of the Locarno Pact, in order to explore and analyse the party politics in Weimar Republic.The paper consists of introduction, four chapters and conclusion:In the introduction, basis of the topic and significance of the research are explained and on the foundation of the existing research results both at home and abroad, research ideas, methods and innovation of the paper are put forward.The first chapter introduces the party politics of the Republic of Weimar. Firstly, it interprets the concept of party politics, then states the main political parties and political tendency from the Empire to the Republic.The second chapter explains the condition of the Republic’s party politics, mainly focuses on the regime changes. Then it expatiates the origin of the Locarno Pact and the international and domestic political background. It includes the demand for security from Britain and France, and the attitude of these parties in and out of power.In the third chapter, the detailed study is about the political game among these parties during the process of the Pact signing, and it focuses on how the parties in and out the government dealt with this affair, as well as the conflict and results.On the basis of the former chapters, the forth chapter summarizes the basic feature of the Republic, analyses their causes, in the meanwhile, explores the historical status of the Weimar Republic party politics in the Germany political history, and provides experience and references for German democratic political development.The conclusion part is the summary of the main points of the paper.
