Research On The Training Mode Of Applied Foreign Language Majors

With the development of the era and deepening of globalisation, demand for talents with foreign language skills has changed significantly. Universities need to research social development, technology and the country’s strategy which bring challenges to talent development.They ought to seize opportunities, update the education theory and reform talent development.This study, based on theories of humanism and competency-based education, proposes a new model for talent development focused on foreign languages. It analyses supply and demand for talents and takes into consideration the talent status under the current education system. It also samples students using the new and old models from Harbin University, proving that under the new model students are motivated and practical and language skills are further developed. It is intended that talents can be trained better to serve the society based on the study and the study can provide references for reforms on developing talents with language skills to other universities.
