Chinese folk song has a wide distribution in the vast landmass of China, which is the precious wealth in the field of art. However, in the spreading process of this art form, some gradually integrated into the folk culture, others were revised by art workers and produced new art element that adapt to the up-to-date aesthetic value.Pathway is a song that has many versions, and the Russian version is the most popular one. In this paper, the Pathway means a representative folk song circulated in Northern China. By collecting relevant data, I concluded that it originated in Suiyuan and is the master work of the mountain climbing song. Until last century, Pathway had obtained the appreciation from many art workers for its unique artistic characteristics. For instance, in 1940 s, the famous old composer, Mr.Tan Xiaolin, chose the Suiyuan folk song Pathway as the example to demonstrate how to harmonize the folk song by applying Hindemith theory when he taught composition course at Shanghai State Conservatory of Music. Thus it can be seen that Pathway, with its artistic characteristics, deserves the artist’s mining and recreation.Following Mr. Tan, more artistic workers became highly interested in Pathway, among which Wu Yongyi and Ye Guohui’s adaption stood out from others. Since musical work’s annotation is greatly influenced by differences in historical background, space and structure, and accompaniment texture, the performances of the works recreated by Huang Ying and Fang Qiong also manifest their particular artistic style respectively.
