Since entering the 21st century, countries in the world grow awareness of cultural diversity deeply, it directly resulted us to promote the awareness of our tangible culture and intangible cultural heritage. In this paper thesis, it combines with the similarities and compares differences of the two countries and as well as polices of each country which has been initiating in Chu Nom protection and development, pointing out the common characteristics and the different parts between the two countries on the issue of intangible cultural heritage protections and inheritances that still exists.Based on the brief introduction to the system and related policies in protection of intangible cultural heritages between China and Vietnam, the study not only focuses on the actions of the Chu Nom protection and preservation but also related documents and activities, then analyzes the similarities and differences in protecting and preserving China-Vietnam intangible cultural heritages. The study is divided into four chapters. Firstly, Chapter one mainly introduces the historical development and various functions of the Chu Nom.The second chapter aims to point out the roles of Chu Nom in today’s intangible cultural heritage discourse. Thirdly, the next chapter also discusses the roles of Chu Nom in the construction of social culture in both China and Vietnam. Finally, the fourth chapter gives out a series of differences on supportive policies. Chu Nom is an important part in intangible cultural heritage in Vietnam and has been effectively protected and researched, which is closely related to the Jing ethnic groups. On the contrary, the Jing ethnic group is just a small group of population in China. Therefore, the Chu Nom preserved by Jing ethnic groups is only considered as one small part in the system of intangible cultural heritage by Chinese government. As the result, the two countries have many differences in the activities of researching Chu Nom. After researching documents in national system, the development of Chu Nom and cultural industrial development, it is realized that China has had a significant contribution in preserving the intangible cultural heritage-Chu Nom and Vietnam also pays a lot of attention in this field. Thus, it leads to many differences in policies, the situation of economic development between China and Vietnam though the two countries all focused on the protection of intangible cultural heritage.
