This thesis is consist of introduction, the first chapter on murals in Tibet’s monasteries and “the reincarnation of the Buddha and Basangchishin,,” the second chapter on the painted Tibetan folk life in Basangchishin, on the wall of Gonggar Choide Monastery, the third chapter on Tibetan folk costumes and decoration art as well as other folk cultures in Basangchishin,, and the postscript.The thesis is based on the still discernable mural Basangchishin, episode 75, episode 76, episode 67, episode 73 and episode 72 on the south wall of the first floor of the main hall, episode 9 and episode 62 on the east wall, episode 95 on the west wall, extracting the elements that could embody Tibetan folk culture, and analyze and approach the related subjects through the way of investigation and research.The conclusion is that as a type of social ideology as well as a time-honored cultural heritage, Tibetan custom is formed, developed and gradually changed under the influence of politics, economy and culture. In return,Tibetan custom affects its politics, economy and culture. From studying Tibetan custom, we can know more about the connotation of Tibetan culture and the track of the cultural exchages and interplay between the plateau and its neighboring areas in the long process of history because of inclusivity that Tibetan culture boasts.
