Yanan Film Group(hereinafter referred to as Film Group) was the first film organization, a military organization with the same formation as the Eight Route Army, built up by CPC during Anti-Japanese war. Although with poor equipment and lack of film source material under such hard-struggle external condition, the film group had successfully made lots of useful films and photo materials,which showed the war led by the CPC in Shan-gan-ning Border under hard condition, and also showed the character charm, people and soldiers’ life and the reality in this area. These materials had mobilized the universal people to take part in the anti-Japanese war and played an important part in positively promoting the final success in this war.The documentary style of Yanan Image was one of the special techniques in Chinese Image at that time. It explored a new narrative style while adhering the left-wing traditions in 1930’s. This style was actually chosen by the universal nations under the critical peril of the whole nations. People in revolutionary base, modern city like Shanghai and the Rear Area had tired of fabricating romantic style and sowordsmen style. They preferred the reality style image showing the real difficulty and promoting all the people to fight against Japanese. In this case, the narrative styles of live recording, oral history and rehearsals, etc., were adopted due to what was available at that situation and time; the new three-in-one manufactured and presented module of “film-slide show-photo” was formed.The actualite of documentary film has its own special Aesthetics characteristics. In this certain period, this kind of actualite aesthetics characteristics was indicated by the relationship of artical standard and reality standard: art shall be governed by politics. In this situation, the new reality aesthetics with perticulat nationality characteristics and special time period was formed. It contains two parts, the nationality characteristics caused by the war and the public characteristics due to domestic demand. The formation of reality aesthetics reflected the liberation of Chinese film mind. The style that dramatic plots were replaced with reality details and put the figures to reality environment was of special aesthetics style and explored a new direction for the later Chinese film.Today, when we had got the victory in the revolution, review the history is to memorize the seniors who had recorded the history and created the new image style in a hard condition,also is to excite us to think about how to adhere and promote the aesthetics and reality spirit of Yanan image and to find a new mind for the modern revolution of Chinese film.
