A Study Of Aesthetic Thought In Prose Language In Qing Dynasty

Qing Dynasty is the relatively prosperous period of prose’s development, and it’s also the most comprehensive period of the summary about prose theory. There are abundant aesthetic conceptions of language in the Prose Criticism of this period, which are based on the excellent literature resources of previous generations and the practical problems of prose’s development under the special background of Qing Dynasty. What’s more, these aesthetic conceptions of prose language not only deepen the classical concepts and categories of the traditional literary, but also explore the new literary concept and the notion of language. Therefore, they have important value and impact.Based on the view of Chinese ancient language on the whole, this paper firstly analyzes the development profiles and evolution process of the aesthetic conceptions of prose language form diachronic point of view, then discusses the theorist’s understanding about the relationship between the writer and language, the aesthetic characteristics of the language itself and the aesthetic judgment from the synchronic angle, which reveals the theorist’s unique thinking about the aesthetic rules of prose in Qing Dynasty. Finally, on the basis of the practical needs and the general rules of literature development, this paper has made objective evaluations on the aesthetic ideas of prose language which put forward by Qing Dynasty’s theorist, and reveals their value and the influence from the perspective of history and reality.
