The U.S. places great emphasis on the construction of the navy forces at any timein history. A powerful navy that has ocean-going combat capability is the solidfoundation of the maritime development of the United States.The maritimedevelopment of the U.S., with its increasing global influence, is closely linked withthe strong maritime strength of the United States.The development of maritimestrength is inseperable from the guide of the maritime strategy.Maritime strategy isthe guiding principle for the U.S. Navy to fulfill the maritime tasks given by nationalsecurity strategy and military strategy, win the war, stop invasion and guarantee oceanfreedom.This article focuses on the U.S. maritime strategy elaborated during the Obamaadministration and analysis. U.S. maritime strategy is reflected in its global defenseposture, national security strategy and military strategy. The first chapter explains themeaning and origin of the concept " maritime strategy " from the theoretical point ofview. The second chapter reviews American maritime strtegy before the Obamaadministrationin based on America’s global defense posture. It is divided into twostages. The first stage is the evolution of the American maritime strategy before theCold War. The second stage is tthe American maritime strategy between the end of theCold War to the begining of the Obama administration. The third chapter analyzes thenational security strategy, military strategy and national defense policy during theObama Administration and summarizes the content and characteristics of its maritimestrategy.The fourth chapter introduces the reasons behind the maritime strategicadjustment during the Obama Administration from both international and domesticaspects and analyzes the influence of Obama’s maritime strategy on China, theAsia-Pacific and the world.The conclusion discloses the essence of Americanmaritime strategy and points out that China should remain alert and strive to developits own maritime power to safeguard the national interest and maritime security.
