An Analysis Of The Dilemma And Reasons Of Quantitative Research On Political Science In China

There has been30years since China political science became the independentdiscipline.With the development of China’s politics,political science has also enteredinto a period of great development. A large number of political theories that rooted inlocal political ecology are evolving.The explanation and instruction of them make thescholars excited. But with the political science growing up, some problems ofresearch are gradually exposed and then caused some scholars’ attention.Researchmethods is the important one of these problems,and the analysis on empirical researchand quantitative research are the most important aspect of this problem.Based on the literature review of the research about quantitative research andempirical research, this paper try to interpret the current situation and predicament ofthe quantitative research of the political science. In addition to the other fragmentfactors just like lack of hardware support and the external environment, this paperfound that it needs to be placed from the perspective of the whole political scienceresearch methodology analysis to analyze.But the consensus of our political scienceresearch methodology is still in the building stage, there is no uniform standard canrefer to. So this paper discussed the political science research methodology throughthe comparative study about the methodologies of Chinese,Western and social scienceperspective three kinds of method system. Finally, the unique methodology of "fourlevels" was analyzed. Based on the understanding, we found that the problem ofChinese quantitative research is actually the problem of paradigm shiftdifficulties.The paradigm shift is namely conversion from normative research toempirical research.Next, based on our paradigm shift difficulties as the theme, thestudy from the aspects of the researchers and the study objects gave the finalconclusion.First reason from the researchers is that the Chinese scholars’knowledgeof method which was in the stage of the traditional politics was changed by twiceparadigm swifts of West. Second reason from the objects is that China is quitedifferent from the West,even in the aspect of objects.In China,the main researchobjects are the macro political problems but the Western is not.
