During the second half of the20th century, the world was facing the increasingenvironmental pressures after rapid economic growth following World War II. TheGreen Movement belonging to the new social movement took place firstly in westerncountries during1960s and1970s. This Green Movement’s goals were to protect theecological environment, expand democracy, fight against the war, defend the peace,and oppose excessive unhealthy economic growth and the traditional politicalbureaucracy. During the course of the development, the Greens began its politicalshow performances on the stage of politics. After the birth of the Greens, and notonly they quickly became an important force in the political arena of Europe as theirrapid development, but also played an essential role in20years such a short period.The Greens review the society’s development in a natural ecological perspectivewhich is unique, and participate actively in political elections to strive for the power.Thus, it made its ideas including natural environment protection, ecological balancemaintenance and so on into the government policies in practice. The Greens havebrought a fresh wind, while the traditional parties and their politics have beenshocked so greatly that they have to make adaptive changes. At the same time, manyproblems of the young Greens are revealed gradually in the process of fighting forand political resources and power with the traditional political parties. There havebeen some transformations of the Greens, since they are facing all kinds of pressurefrom the traditional political parties outside, changes of itself and the rapiddevelopment of other green organizations.This paper analyses the course of the Green Movement and its political partyprocess, investigate the profound impacts of social changes on the GreenMovement’s rise and its political party, as well as the Greens’ reactions on socialdevelopment. All of these are based on dialectical materialism and historicalmaterialism, and apply literature research, normative research methods and so on.Besides, the paper’s main clue is the Green Movement and the Greens’ dynamicdevelopments, which uses the perspective of social changes to put the political phenomenon into the social vision.This paper consists of the introduction, the body and the conclusion. Theintroduction describes concisely the background, the purpose and the significance,the status, the ideas and methods of this research on the topic. The body is dividedinto three parts. In the first part, introduces the meanings of the Green Movementand social changes are introduced firstly, then the meeting point between them isfollowing. The second part makes an analysis to the rise, growth and the politicalparty of the Green Movement from both external environment and internal factors insocial-change view. The last part focuses on the back action of the Green Movementand the Green Party onto the social changes. The conclusion is to make a rationaloutlook and forecasts on the future development of the Western European Greensand the traditional parties using the perspective of social changes.
