The government credibility is the evaluation of the public on the government to fulfill itsduties. It is the public credibility of government influence and appeal, and it is also a concretemanifestation of the government’s administrative ability which reflects the government’sauthority, democracy, service level and the degree of law’s construction; at the same time, it isalso people’s evaluation of the government,, reflected the people to the government’s satisfactionand trust.At present, the credibility of various countries government all over the world has decreasedto different extent, so all countries attach importance to enhance the credibility constructiongreatly. But at present our country is in the period of social transformation, the rapid economicdevelopment and social contradictions coexist, the government administrative system reform andcitizen consciousness co-exist, the government credibility decreased obviously, which theenvironmental protection department is be the first to bear the brunt, received much criticism. Inrecent years, environmental problems become more prominent, people pay more and moreattention to ecological environment deterioration, and people’s environmental protectionconsciousness is universal awakening. In this case, the ineffective remediation of environmentalproblems, environmental emergencies occurring frequently, lead the public to do not understand,be not satisfied, and do not trust, the network is full of ridicule, satire and even challenge theenvironmental protection departments. If things go on like this, the enthusiasm of people and thehealthy development of environmental protection will be influenced, the contradiction betweenenvironmental protection department and the public will aggravate, forming a vicious spiral.Therefore, the environmental protection department walking out of the crisis of public trust,enhancing the credibility is imminent.This paper aims to analyze the current situation of the lack of credibility of China’senvironmental protection department and its causes, combining with typical cases analysis, toresearch ideas and countermeasures of improving the credibility of the environmental protectiondepartment. This paper is divided into four parts. The first part defines concepts related to thegovernment credibility. Content includes credibility, government credibility, as well as theevaluation criteria of the government credibility. The second part analyses the situation andreasons for lack of credibility of China’s environmental protection department, expounding thevarious difficulties of China’s environmental protection departments facing at present, and someproblems of departments within the system. The third part analyses two typical cases, to explorethe experience and summary of the construction of credibility. The fourth part puts forward theconcrete countermeasures of environmental protection departments improve The governmentcredibility, including making the performance prominent, enhancing the transparency ofinformation, improving information feedback mechanism, strengthening team construction andpopularizing the concept of environmental protection.
