A bottom-to-top revolution ended Mubarak’s authoritarian rule. In therevolution, Egypt civil society has an important effect. In16thcentury, therewere civil society organizations that provided social service like providingeducation、solving poverty and so on. In early and middle20thcentury,Egyptcivil society’s spring came. With the development of Egypt civil society, it hasevolved government-led model and self-grow model. In general, there is stillroom for Egypt civil society development. Although some hold the point ofview that Egypt’s strong authoritarian government has limited civil society’spromoted effect on political transition, Egypt civil society has an importantlypromoted effect on political modernization、doubting authoritarian legitimacy、supporting revolution and giving legitimacy support to new government.Protests in Egypt forced Mubarak to step down and ended long-timeauthoritarian rule. Turmoil since crackdown of authoritarian government hasproved that political transition is not quick and easy, and Egypt’s politicaldevelopment in the future also faces challenges from political stability anddemocratic consolidation. In this aspect, Egypt civil society will have anirreplaceable effect.
