A Study On The Inspiration Of Korean Village Movement To The Construction Of New Countryside In China

The Fifth Plenary Session of the Sixteenth CPC Central Committee clearly put forward thatbuilding new socialism countries is a great historical task in China’s modernization developmentprocess. Building new socialism countries is a new scientific decision made by the CommunistParty of China under the new historical situation from China’s specifically national conditionsapplying Marxist theories and methods. This scientific decision is beneficial for our CPC andChinese to accelerate the rural economic development, to promote social progress and to realizesocialism modernization. It also is good for all-round advancement of well-off societyconstruction and establishing harmoniously socialism society.Knowledge is in the world. We should positively learn and use the advanced experiencesand scientific technologies created by many countries including capitalism countries. SouthKorea, as one of our neighbors, developed from a traditionally agricultural country into a modernindustrial one becoming a classic model for developing countries to solve rural developmentproblems. Korea accelerated the development of urbanization and industrialization successfullysolving problems of urban and rural dual structure at the same time. As China and South Koreaboth belong to the Oriental countries, it is easy to resonate in cultural exchanges. And many ofthe New Village Movement practices including government positive action will be more easilyaccepted by our government and people. Thus it is feasible to explore the successful experiencesand lessons of the New Village Movement.The South Korea New Village Movement was launched by Zhengxi Piao Government in the1970s to solve the problem of rural development. In the process of implementation, a brand ofpatriotism, self-improvement, mutual help and selfless dedication civilization constructionupsurge rose in the whole country, and accepted the support and response of the nation. Themovement quickly spread to a national campaign and finally succeeded. It not only greatlypromoted the South Korea’s rapid economic and social development, but also set up self-help,diligence, cooperation, dedication spirit concept to enhance the confidence of the broad massesof farmers and make them know about the goal clearly. In the campaign, the government playeda key role. The central government personally initiated and led drive and local governmentsactively cooperated with and strictly implemented.This paper first introduces the basic situation of the South Korea New Village Movement,including its background, main fruit and features, and then focuses on the important role of thegovernment the New Village Movement. Based on the reality of China, it analyzes the presentsituation of our government, and finds out problems. Finally it is concluded that the role of government in the South Korea New Village Movement enlightenment on the new ruralconstruction in our country.
