VHF radar has a great deal of advantages in anti-stealth and anti-radiation missile. However, as limited by antenna size, it has many disadvantages, such as wide beam width, low precision and low resolution ability. Especially in the elevation dimension, the ability of height-finding precision of VHF radar is poor as a result of multi-path reflection. This thesis focuses on the research and implementation of super-resolution algorithms for height-measuring in VHF digital phased array radar. The echo signal model of VHF radar and basic principle of super-resolution height-finding are firstly introduced in this paper. Then the synthetic steering vector algorithm of maximum likelihood considering signal reflection from earth surface is derived from the preceding analysis and better than the alternating projection algorithm in the precision of measuement and amount of computation. The paper discusses the implementation of synthetic steering vector algorithm in detail and realizes the design of software and system debugging using high-performance digital signal processor DSP (TS201) and FPGA on a general processing platform. Test results in the proving ground are correct absolutely. Typical problems in the implementation of project are analyzed carefully and offered to feasible solutions.
