Wireless mesh network, a new type of network access technology, progresses rapidly in recent years due to its flexibility and strong adaptability, and gradually becomes one of the key technologies of the next generation wireless networks. Despite of above mentioned merits, the security problem can not be ignored. Wauthentication protocols are very important parts of the security of wireless mesh networks, implementing authentication protocols is an important approach to verify and test them in a real network environment.Based on the study of authentication methods for wireless mesh networks, a new authentication protocol called WSP(Wireless Security Protocol) for wireless mesh networks is implemented and tested in this paper.First, the architecture and related technologies of wireless mesh networks are introduced. Secondly, based on the analysis of existing authentication methods for wireless mesh networks, a new authentication protocol is presented, with its features analyzed. Subsequently, through the analysis of procotols and correlative codes, an authentication system of WSP protocol is designed and implemented, which is composed of supplicant module, authenticator module and server module.Finally, a testing network environment is built and the authentication system is tested. The testing result shows that the authentication system attains the design goal and can achieve the authenticating function of WSP protocol.
