In recent years, the satellite mobile communication technologies are developed more and more quickly. In these satellite mobile communication systems, the propagating characteristics of the channel directly impact on the system performance and the communication qualities. Therefore, the studies of propagating characteristics in the satellite mobile communication channel become an important segment in the system researching and designing.The propagating characteristics of the signal waves in the satellite mobile communication channel are first introduced in this paper. And then the four probability distribution models are discussed which are used to describe the fading characteristics of the channel. Secondly, three typical channel models in the satellite mobile communication systems are analyzed. On this basis, an integrated channel model is studied which considers the weather effects in the satellite mobile communication systems. Thirdly, the mathematical analysis and system simulation models of this integrated channel model are set up. Finally, the BER(Bit Error Rate) performance in this simulation system of the integrated channel model are respectively analyzed for different weather conditions and shadows. Compared with the theoretical BER, this integrated channel model in the satellite mobile communication systems is verified to be correct and reasonable.
