The Design And Realization Of The FLASH Tester

During the test of the production, lots of chip tests are needed. Once some problemsoccur, particular analysis and test of the single chip must be executed. Now thenormal programmers in the market don't meet the requirement of the test at all. Thelarge-scale tester used as test batches of chips by group doesn't fit this need as well,for it not only be too complex to test single chip, but also increase the cost and delaythe regular ship-out time.In this paper, a kind of special FLASH tester is designed for the chip producer. It hasmore function than the normal programmer. For the first time, it used monolithicfunction in the mini-tester to make it run a series of independent programs andsupport simple instructions. Moreover, it has the design of the multi-buffer input asoriginal creation, which will be more convenient to use with the function of readingdata from S19 files.The software and hardware developed in this paper are all design especially for theanalysis of the chip failure cause. Its hardware is stronger to test and better to expandthan other FLASH programmers. Professional design is used to test the part easilycausing failure also. Testing can be completed through both the self-program testerbuilt in and the programs written by anyone. Meanwhile, the software has friendlyinterface. It can realize a great many of function such as the handle of S19 file, theoperation of FLASH area and the composite manipulation of multi-tests with the helpof hardware.Now the FLASH tester has been used widely in FREESCALE corp. and won greateffect.
