The traditional architecture of IP phone terminal system is uaually composed of many subsystems including embedded CPU and DSPs. This kind of system is always complex, expensive, less flexible, low-density. A high-density approach is that both digital signal process function and RISC processor function can be integrated in a chip with SOPC technology. SOPC combines the advantage of SOC and FPGA, and the whole system can be created quickly, thus, development time of designers can be saved. This kind of design approach has high flexibility.A design approach of IP phone terminal is presented in this thesis;Based on the analysis of G.726 voice-compression algorithm standard, G.726 CODEC is implemented on FPGA using Verilog HDL;hardware platform of IP phone terminal based on Nios II embedded processor system is designed;the application software of the system is programmed by C language, μC/OS-Ⅱ real-time embedded operating system is run on the system, and LwIP network protocol is embedded, system management and network communication of the terminal are realized;Finally, the IP phone terminal system is debugged and tested.The IP phone terminal integrates 32-bit Nios II processor, G.726 CODEC, several peripheral controllers and interfaces, and user logic on a single large scale FPGA chip, makes it be a high performance chip that have speech data process and network communication function. The high density embedded terminal is cheap, small, high reliable, low power, and has high acclimatization performance. The terminal has a widly application future.
