Research On The Mechanism Of Collaborative Digital Reference Service Based On The Internet

The Collaborative Digital Reference Service, which is an important item of the library information service nowadays, is developing with the evolution of computer technology, database technology, computer supported cooperation work, intelligent agent, and distributed network communication, based on the traditional reference service. The CDRS is a new thing present to the specific condition in order to meet the needs of the users with higher information quality, to maintain the authority of the library as the reliable specialty information guider, and to meet the need of spread and utilization of the digital information resource. In China, the CDRS is on the initial stage. The development of CDRS depends on the deep study of many researchers. The author writes this paper according to the knowledge and research on CDRS so as to encourage more and more people study on CDRS. The paper includes four parts:Part 1 is the first chapter. Chapter 1 summarizes the knowledge of CDRS. The CDRS has experienced the phases of the traditional reference service, the digital reference service, and the collaborative digital reference service successively. Firstly the author analyzes the characteristics of the reference service in every phase and compares them deeply. Then the author analyzes the domestic and foreign research actuality of this field, and concludes the problems needed to resolve immediately.Part 2 is from Chapter 2 to Chapter 6. This part is the emphasis, difficulty and innovation of the paper. The author analyzes the ideas systematically according to the function flow, cooperation work, intellectual property rights protection, the design of sharing platform, and the evaluation and control of service quality of CDRS. The five aspects above are vital to the efficiency of CDRS. Both the design and the function of the system are based on the research of the five aspects.The study on the function process of the system is the fundamental of the whole research. According to it, the complicated system is divided into interactional function module so as to simplify the problems.Cooperation work is the effective way to collect the resource. The paper discusses two aspects on cooperation work. One is the design and share of knowledge database, the other is the applications of the cooperation networks protocols.The protection of intellectual property rights works through the system function. The objects of the protection of intellectual property rights are all kinds of digital information resource. It is ascribed to the protection of intellectual property rights of Internet information resource. Therefore this chapter discusses the protection of intellectual property rights according to the design and function of the system, and brings forward the effective methods to protect the intellectual property rights of the system.The design of sharing flat is the base of the system. The achievement of the function of the system depends on the sharing flat. This chapter introduces the concept of intelligent agent to explain the mechanism of the work and communication between the member libraries, and then designs the flat system on the base of the localhiberarchy, regional hiberarchy, and the global hiberarchy.The evaluation and control of service quality of the system is the guarantee to maintain the efficient function of the system. On the base of the evaluation of the system service and the control of service quality, this chapter ascertains the evaluation indices and evaluates the system continually in order to improve the service quality.Part 3 includes Chapter 7. In this chapter, the author analyzes the typicalexample------QuestionPoint, which is the largest and the most successful CDRS systemin the world, and takes in its experience, in order to guide the domestic informationservice institution to develop and design the CDRS system.Part 4 includes Chapter 8. This chapter summarizes the whys of the author writing thispaper and prospects over the development of CDRS of the libraries in the future inChina.
