Image Compression Based On Adaptive Lifting Wavelet

Now, wavelet transform for image compression is the important method in image compression field. Lifting scheme can implement the wavelet transforms that map integer to integer, which provides the effective tool for studying the lossless image compression.This paper is composed of two parts: first, we study the lifting wavelet transform and its adaptive method. Then we validate an improved adaptive method by experimental results. Based on the characters of images, the best one can be selected from some predictors, which have different wavelet bases. The better compression can be yielded. The architecture keeps perfect reconstruction, needs less memory and is suited for hardware implement. Second, we study the implement technology of adaptive lifting wavelet and give out the architecture and the circuit. According to the simulation, the result is validated.
