The Research And Design Of Unified Message System

Unified Message System (UMS) is one of the important sections of added value service and the best entry point of merging Telecom Industry with IT Industry. It is also the key bridge and tie for the evolution of added value service from public entertainment tool to real time enterprises and instant communications.The development level and trend of UMS around the world and in China has been analyzed based upon the information investigation. Furthermore, open multi-layer design principle and implementing scheme has been proposed, combining with the user requirements. Based on the user requirement analysis, novel techniques (such as MQ, Information Bus, modular architecture, XML, etc.) were proposed and utilized in the implementation of the system. Therefore, the extendibility and reliability of the system was fully assured.The IP-based solution for UMS was investigated. Advanced speech synthesis & recognition techniques were applied in the system. Therefore Integrating information services in the forms of voice, data, multimedia have been implemented.Based upon the detailed argumentation and analysis on the architecture and network organization of UMS, a design scheme adopting three-layer architecture for UMS was proposed, including access service, application service and background service. The format of XML was utilized to packing messages, the advantages of XML such as extendibility of its format and standardization of its content have been fully exploited, and so multimedia information such as records, faxed pictures, and email attachments could be carried effectively through the system.
