The Study Of Constructing City Community Libraries In China

With the perfection of the socialist market economy system and the development of the reform of market management system the basic function of community construction is becoming more and more obvious. As an important part of community culture construction, community libraries play an important part in raising the qualities of the inhabitants and accelerating the development of communities. So in this situation the construction of community libraries is a subject that is worth close attention and studying. This paper introduces some theory of public administration and explores the way to construct community libraries based on our country's reality. The aim is to attract more attention from the government, the library world and the inhabitants so as to further develop community libraries.This paper consists of four chapters. Chapter One is about the connotation and characteristics of our community libraries with an analysis of the importance of developing community libraries in China; Chapter Two is a brief outline of community libraries in developed countries and what we can learn from them; Chapter Three is a summary of successful experience and an analysis of the problems we are still facing in the construction of our community libraries; Chapter Four is the key part which put forward the proposition of constructing community libraries. It contains five aspects: ①practicing many-faceted construction mode; ②getting the government to attach more importance to developing community libraries; ③perfecting community libraries themselves; ④enlarging publicity and perfecting services ; ⑤ training the librarians properly in order to have high-qualified library staff.
